I am a firefighter and when u see the things i have seen it makes u think twice about how fast life can be taken from us. My grandfather past away 2 years before pearl jams version was released and i know if he had still been here with us he would have loved it u can feel the emotion in eddie vedders voice when he sings this song. Every time I hear this song it reminds me of him and in a strange way I feel he's still with me. They are a totally different and much better band when doing covers. For years and years, my iPod and more recently my streaming playlists include only two Pearl Jam songs: “Last Kiss” and “Gremmie Out of Control”. But, as a band, at least to my ears, they come alive when they are covering somebody else’s songs. I always found Pearl Jam to be a bit insufferable. long before this was released i saw an even better hard rock/metal version of this in LA by a young talented band.
